HAM Radio Intro

Why are amateur radio operators called “hams”?

When the Ham Radio first started, two radio stations would connect and mess up the other radio signals in their way. The people at the radio stations got angry and started calling the interferences “Hams”. Newer people working at the radio stations misunderstood the term and started using it too for the radio. Over time, the real name was forgotten and we are left with Ham Radios.

How many bands of frequencies are hams allocated?

There are 26 bands of frequencies of hams that are allocated.

What are Q Signals used for?
