Health Hazards of Smoking
I learned about many things this week, but I chose to write about smoking, and how it destroys your body, and other people’s bodies. People smoke all the time for many reasons. There are many diseases that smoking results in, so it is very important to learn how to take care of your body. Smoking also wastes money and time.
Most people start smoking young, and usually because they want to act cool and be like other people. People also start smoking because of depression or stress. They think it helps them calm down, when really, it is destroying their body.
While smoking, smoke from the cigarette travels down into your lungs and fills them. This causes a deadly disease called lung cancer. This can also affect your heart, and many other parts of the body. Smoking can also cause throat cancer. People die every day from these diseases caused by smoking. My grandma used to smoke, and she ended up getting throat cancer from it. Thankfully, she survived and doesn’t smoke anymore. I am very grateful that she is still alive and she has changed, otherwise, I may not have my wonderful grandma as she is. Smoking also makes it harder to walk up-hill or stairs, run, jump, breath calmly, and so much more.
Smoking is such a waste of money and time. It is so useless to spend money on something that ruins your life when you could be spending it on a new car, an awesome video game, or even a peaceful and exciting vacation. How expensive a box of cigarettes is today makes people spend so much good money that they could use it for something they love.
Smoking also affects other people. The smoke is so thick that it makes it hard to breathe. It can also give other people bad ideas that will horribly change their lives, maybe forever. Also, leaving cigarette butts on the ground is littering, and pollutes the earth.
As you can see, smoking is very bad and dangerous for everyone, not just yourself. It causes many deadly forms of cancer that kill people every day. It also is a huge waste of money. I am very glad I do not and I will never smoke, and I hope people who do realize how much damage it is doing to themselves and stop.
