Enzymes
Have your parents ever told you to eat your vegetables? This makes you wonder why vegetables are so important. The answer is simple: enzymes. Even though enzymes are naturally produced in your body, you also need them from foods, like vegetables.
As I said, enzymes are naturally produced in your body, and they help you digest, think, do physical activities, see, talk, and much more. However, it has been discovered that your body produces less enzymes as you get older. This is why older people can not digest as easily and suffer from more diseases.
You might be wondering why vegetables play a part in this. Well, vegetables carry lots of enzymes, but only when they are raw. Once they are cooked, the enzymes no longer work, but it is okay to lightly steam vegetables. Raw meat also carries enzymes, but once we cook the meat to get rid of all the bad bacteria and pesticides, the enzymes won’t work. On the other hand, processed foods have no enzymes.
In conclusion, it is very important to eat vegetables, but mostly when they are raw. They give us extra enzymes that help us with things we do every day. So the next time you get to choose between a plate of raw vegetables and a bowl of doritos, think of only enzymes. You will feel much better about it later.
